This is a quiz about The Odd Couples of Bollywood.
Hindi cinema is famous for its iconic pairings — Raj Kapoor & Nargis, Dev Anand & Suraiya, Dilip Kumar & Madhubala — combinations so beloved that audiences demanded them again and again.
But what about the pairings that happened only once? Two major stars, both at the height of their fame, sharing the screen for a single film — and then never again.
Sometimes it was fate, sometimes circumstance, and sometimes a behind-the-scenes story more dramatic than anything in the script. These are the “Odd Couples” of Bollywood — fleeting on-screen unions that gave us unforgettable moments, and then vanished, leaving us forever wondering: what if they had done just one more?
Context for the Quiz
While researching for the playlists in this blog, I came across many wonderful songs picturized on an on-screen couple that made me do a double take. The combination worked well for the song or the movie I was researching, but it was the first time I saw them together.
That got me wondering if those two artists ever worked together in any other movie. What I found was both interesting and intriguing. I found a long list of “Odd Couples” that worked unexpectedly well together.
This quiz is a celebration of that interesting and intriguing facet of Hindi movies. I am confident that you will find them equally interesting.
Instructions for the Quiz
The questions in this Quiz are structured as a single short-text answer and not as multiple-choice questions. Given the context of the quiz, I felt that this would be the right format.
For each question, the prompt asks you to identify the only movie in which an actor and an actress acted as the hero and heroine. The answer should be just the title of the movie, with no additional text.
If you feel that there is additional information that is relevant, you may add additional explanation by selecting the explanation box below the answer.
Because the quiz software will be comparing you answers against the title of the movie, it will be sensitive to the way you spell each word. It might happen that your answer may be correct, but the software will mark it as incorrect due to the difference in spelling. Apologies if that happens when you try the quiz.
Go ahead and try your luck! Please remember to provide your feedback in the comments section below.
